The new Adobe Cookbooks website is now live.
Adobe Cookbooks is an open program to anyone wanting to contribute code recipes and solutions to common coding tasks and problems associated with Adobe technologies. Recipes from the site are also featured in the O'Reilly Cookbook series. Users can also search and request recipes.
From Adobe labs:
"Squiggly is an ActionScript spell checking library for developers who work in Flash, Flex® Builder™, or other IDEs that support ActionScript. It is a single .swc file that consists of two parts – a spell checking engine that checks words against a dictionary, and a UI class that underlines misspelled words in Flex text controls and shows suggested corrections through a right mouse context menu. The spell checking engine of Squiggly is written in ActionScript 3.0 and does not have a specific dependency on Flash CS4 Professional, Flex or any other framework. The UI class for Squiggly requires the Flex SDK v3.0 and above, but it is possible for developers to write their own UI controls without a dependency on the Flex SDK."

This looks like a great resource for anyone that works with Flash or any products included in the Flash Platform. Lots of news and insights on the Flash Platform from other Adobe bloggers.
From the Flash Platform blog:
"This group blog provides the latest news, updates, and insights into the technologies, tools, and partners across the Flash Platform. Join the conversation on the latest topics with our experts, engineers, product managers, and others on the platform team."
We are in a software revolution fueled by social computing, client and cloud, and the spread of rich media across screens and devices. For four unforgettable days this October, MAX 2009 will bring together thousands of designers, developers, and decision-makers to shape the future. Join us.
Lou will teach a Lab on Learning ActionScript 3.0.
Please check out http://max.adobe.com/ for more details.
Hope to see you there.

From the Open Source Media Framework home -
"Open Source Media Framework enables developers to easily assemble pluggable components to create high-quality, full-featured playback experiences. The open aspect of the framework enables collaborative development for web video monetization, with lower costs and faster turnaround."
The OSMF will playback any type of media that the Flash Player can handle (swf, images, audio and video). You can use the framework to create custom media players and plugins to inrich the user experience.
I'm think this would be a good topic for presentation. :)

Saw 6 ------
Flash Movie Poster, (they call it Motion Poster), but we all know it's Flash!

Well not really what I would call a cheat sheet, more a collection of useful code snippets for common ActionScript tasks. Still, a handy utility for any Flash developer or designer.
Visit Code Cheatsheet.
