Adobe just announced a free full-day, hands-on training session, where attendees can learn how to build their first Flex application using the latest Flash Builder 4 beta software. This training is designed to help experienced ColdFusion developers get started in understanding how to add rich UI to existing and new ColdFusion applications.
Check it out Registration and Locations:
It’s the first website in the world to deploy a video player built with the Adobe Open Source Media Framework (aka Strobe), and one of the first sites built using Adobe ColdFusion 9.
We have all seen the demos...Design in Photoshop, Illustrator or Fireworks and work with those designs in Catalyst and *poof* instant Flex application. But what if your application is extremely customized, or you need to develop and design at the same time? Doug Winnie (http://adobe.dougwinnie.com/), Group Product Manager for Web Tools and Workflow along with James Polanco and Aaron Pedersen, Architects and Founders of DevelopmentArc (http://www.developmentarc.com/) will discuss an alternate workflow using Catalyst from a different perspective, and will also show how that process has worked with a new Adobe project codenamed "Cascade".

We will be featuring our first strictly on-line monthly meeting. We're testing this format out to see if it will increase attendance. It has always been a challenge to have a central meeting place that's convenient for all users since San Diego is such a large geographical area. Rob will be sending out the Connect URL shortly.
Also, please not that the meeting has been moved to Thursday, April 20th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Rob and I look forward to chatting with you all then.

This coming Monday (July 13) at noon US EDT we’ll be having an extra special session of the online CF Meetup (coldfusionmeetup.com), where Adobe has offered to host a special two-hour session, “Centaur and Bolt Uncensored", the Ultimate Centaur/Bolt User Group Tour event, with Terry Ryan of Adobe.

Here’s the most significant part of the description, but there’s more info there:
“…while Adobe has been doing Centaur/Bolt user group tour event over the past few weeks, at each meeting they’ve shared more and different things. This event will be the capstone tour event, revealing all the features shared to this point, and more. Adobe ColdFusion Evangelist Terry Ryan assures me that nothing will be held back as he talks about both Centaur and Bolt.

So the Flex SDK is open source now, but what does that mean to you? You are a Flex developer but you have never even looked at the code powering the Flex SDK. This session is focused on Flex veterans as well as beginners who want to get their hands dirty with the inner workings of the Flex SDK. This session will equip you with the knowledge to get started developing for the Flex framework itself.
We will cover the following topics:
- Resources to learn about the inner workings of the Flex SDK (Coding Conventions, Specs, etc...)
- Subversion, ANT, Mustella... What they are, and how they are used with the Flex SDK.
- Obtaining the Flex SDK source code.
- Setting up Flex Builder for working with the Flex SDK.
- Common pitfalls when getting set up.
- Finding bugs to fix
- How to run check-in tests.
- How to submit a patch, creating diff files.
- Getting involved in the community.. BugQuash, reviewing patches, spring cleaning the bug system.
This session will be presented by Nate Beck, one of the creators of BugQuash. Nate is an active member the Flex community, and has first-hand knowledge of the excitement and addiction that is contributing to the Flex SDK.
The June 15th meeting of the San Diego Adobe Developers User Group will be held at the offices of Intuit. Because Intuit is a secure facility, all attendees will need to RSVP no later than Thursday, June 11 in order to receive a badge and be admitted to the building for the meeting. If you plan to attend, please go to the Adobe Groups page for SDADUG and RSVP for the event.
