Back by popular demand, the Boston CFUG is hosting another night where members can show off their latest projects, cool techniques, or code to everyone else. Audience members can offer comments, criticism, or offers of coding help. One lucky presenter will will the night's door prize. Members who are interested in presenting should contact co-manager Tom Mollerus at tom [at] mollerus [dot] net.
The following is a partial list of presenters:
AJ Ferrigno: Cloud Computing with ColdFusion
Heard about cloud computing? Are the concepts too "up-in-the-sky" for you? We recently went ahead and implemented one of our websites on Amazon's brand new cloud infrastructure, and we learned a lot by doing it. Hear some of our tips, suggestions, and lessons learned throughout this frontier-like task.
Tom Mollerus: WebCrypt
WebCrypt is a new project that lets you store and share credentials in a secure fashion. I'll show how I built a secure architecture and encrypted database, and how I used jQuery to add some convenient features to the interface.
John Luke Mills: ColdFusion to the Rescue
The key technical part is how to generate very precise printed output by pushing cfdocument really hard. There is also a little bit about how this ties into the rest of the application with a Flex client.
Please RSVP at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/340829430
Hosted by Tom Mollerus. Various speakers on a variety of topics. If you are interested in participating contact tom [at] mollerus [dot] net
John is a long time ColdFusion developer who was implementing ColdFusion
powered ajax-like features as early as 1999 by using hidden frames instead
of httpRequest() and WddxRecordset() with CFWDDX in place of JSON. John
currently specializes in laboratory automation. With CF server as his
swiss army knife, he integrates CF with myriad technologies including
.NET, Perl, Python, Java and other proprietary interfaces to laboratory
robots.
ColdFusion evangelist, Adam Lehman, will be in Boston and will present some of the upcoming changes in ColdFusion 9 (aka Centaur) and Bolt, the new ColdFusion IDE. Ram Kulkarni (Lead Engineer on Bolt) and Hemant Khandelwal (Director of Engineering for ColdFusion) will also be there. They will open this up for QA as well, so this is a great opportunity to learn what changes are coming in ColdFusion's future.
