Seems like this week is an Acrobat week. So here it is my tip of the week.

Right click on a raster image with TouchUp Object tool (last icon in the Advanced Editing Toolbar) and choose "Edit Image..." to edit the raster image in Photoshop, or right click on any vector object with the same tool and choose "Edit Object..." this will edit it in Illustrator. Depending on where you have right clicked it might say "Edit Page ..." this too will open Illustrator.

Once you have finished editing either the image or vector object close the appropriate window in either Photoshop or Illustrator and save when prompted to do so this will automatically update the PDF.

Most PDF's are editable if the following criteria are met:

    • You are using a full version of Acrobat and not Acrobat Reader
    • Your fonts have not been converted to outlines/paths (to check this goto File>Properties>Fonts Tab) if there are no fonts listed here your fonts have been converted to outlines so your document will not be that easy to edit
    • Fonts listed in the properties panel are installed on your machine
    • Ensure there is no security on the document preventing you from editing it
    • The pdf is not damaged or corrupt

Try opening the pdf in Illustrator to edit the text and other vector objects. Opening the PDF in Photoshop will also give you the option on coverting that page to a raster image or extracting the raster images out of the PDF document. Note that these options are not available if the PDF is secured.
