Attached are the notes for the May AAUG Meeting. Looking back at my notes from the meeting, I was amazed at how much we did. Thanks to all the people who help pull these meetings together. You are all wonderful!
If you are interested in Color Management in Digital Photography take a look at Veronica Primeaux's Review of Brad Hinkel's Color Management in Digital Photography. This is one of the wonderful books that O'Reilly Publications provided our Group. It looks like Veronica found the book useful. I took a peek at it and got a great review of what I once knew but forgot. I hope you are all looking forward to more great O'Reilly books and reviews.
See Veronica's Review at http://ammug.nhive.com/docs/BookReview-Color+Management-Hinkel[1].pdf and on our blog at Adobe User Groups http://groups.adobe.com/resources/bdf14086a2/summary.
AAUG Adobe User Group Avatar Contest
At the April Meeting, we discussed the need for an avatar for our Adobe Groups site. With all the talented people we have in our group, we couldn’t resist holding a contest. We know our members will come up with a great avatar that represents our group and its place in the Austin and Central Texas area. Please read all of the directions.
1. All entries must come from active AAUG members.
2. We set the qualifications for an active AAUG member in January of this year. A member must have joined our group through the Adobe Users Group or Google Groups and must have attended at least one meeting this year (in this case since the July 2008 meeting).
3. Entries will not be accepted before June 15, 2009. (Information on where to send entries will be distributed with the June Meeting Notes.)
4. Entries will not be accepted after midnight July 12, 2009.
5. Members who have not attended a meeting in the last 12 months have three more chances to qualify as active members for the purposes of the contest.
6. Entries must be 71 pixels by 71 pixels [square] and no more than 500k in size.
7. Large cityscapes or nightscapes will not be accepted (the detail doesn’t show up in the small format).
8. Members will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite avatar before the August meeting.
9. The winner will be announced at the August meeting. Should the avatar design receiving the most votes not translate well on the Adobe Groups site, the AAUG management may use the first or second runner-up as needed.
10. All entries become the property of AAUG to use as needed/desired for group business.
11. Winner will receive 6 extra chances in the December Adobe Software Drawing and bragging rights.
12. First Runner-up will receive 4 extra chances in the December Adobe Software.
13. Second Runner-up will receive 2 extra chances in the December Adobe Software Drawing.
14. Designs used on any other AAUG project/site, will earn the designer credits and 1 extra point in the next Adobe Software Drawing.
15. Submissions will be accompanied by a signed copy of the rules with the statement, “I have read and understand the requirements as listed above.”
Details for submission will be distributed with the minutes of the June AAUG meeting along with a redistribution of these rules. I know there are great avatars out there waiting to represent AAUG on the Adobe Groups site, so plan to submit as many entries as you want and to share your experiences with your fellow AAUG members at the May, June, and July Meetings.
